Out of Hours & Emergency Policy

Please note: We do not provide emergency medical services at High Ash Health. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency or require urgent medical attention, please use the NHS emergency services listed below.

What to Do in an Emergency

  • Call 999 straight away if you need urgent help for a life-threatening emergency.
  • For urgent medical advice (not an emergency), call NHS 111. This free service is available 24/7. Trained advisors will assess your symptoms and guide you to the right care.
  • Visit an NHS Urgent Treatment Centre or Walk-in Clinic for minor illnesses or injuries.
  • Go to your nearest NHS Accident & Emergency (A&E) if you need immediate hospital care.

A&E Departments in Leeds (Open 24/7)

  • Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) – Great George Street, Leeds, LS1 3EX
  • St James’s University Hospital (SJUH) – Beckett Street, Leeds, LS9 7TF

Chapel Allerton Hospital and Wharfedale Hospital do not have A&E departments. Please use LGI or SJUH for emergencies.

NHS 111 – Non-Emergency Advice

If you’re unsure what to do, call NHS 111 (free, open 24/7). They can:

  • Arrange an urgent GP appointment if needed
  • Direct you to a local Urgent Treatment Centre
  • Give advice on self-care or pharmacy treatment
