I am Dr Leon Barron, a dedicated General Practitioner with a broad background in healthcare. I graduated from Barts and The Royal London Medical School and completed additional training at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. During my career, I have gained extensive experience working across multiple hospital specialties, including Acute and General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Vascular surgery, Sexual Health, Endocrinology and Diabetes, Elderly Care, Accident and Emergency, Orthopaedics, Urology, Haematology, Oncology, and Psychiatry.
Since achieving my MRCGP qualification in 2017, I have worked across both NHS and private healthcare settings (BUPA, Nuffield Health). I currently practice as an NHS GP and also provide remote private consultations and home visits for patients in North Leeds. Alongside my clinical work, I enjoy teaching and am a tutor at University College London Medical School.
I consult on a wide range of conditions relevant to general practice, with particular areas of interest in mental health and managing complex, multi-symptom conditions. I have undertaken additional formal qualifications in the management of menopause (BMS Management of the Menopause Certification) and in the diagnosis and management of ADHD. I am also experienced in integrative medical practice and in prescribing medical cannabis. My goal is always to provide compassionate, holistic and thorough patient-centred care – with a focus on treating the patient as a whole, rather than each symptom in isolation.
A little about me…I relocated with my family from Hertfordshire to North Leeds in 2024. I am married and have two energic sons aged 5 and 11. As a family we like to keep active, and enjoy outdoor activities such as bike rides, walking and fishing trips in the Yorkshire Dales. We are foodies and love cooking nutritious, fresh food at home and exploring new flavours and recipes. I enjoy keeping fit with swimming and pilates and also enjoy playing the piano when I find a quiet moment!
